Community Guidelines

Come as a person.
Meet a person.

Presence is an adults-only community for private, one-to-one conversations between everyday people. These shared promises protect the quiet, honest space on both sides of every call.

What Presence is

Attention without an agenda.

A place to speak or listen without needing to solve, impress, or explain everything. Silence, uncertainty, and ordinary humanity are welcome here.

What Presence is not

Professional or crisis care.

Presence is not therapy, healthcare, a crisis service, or a source of medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice. Listeners are everyday people, not emergency responders.

How we show up

Six promises we make to one another.

01

Listen without fixing.

Make room for the other person’s experience. Do not diagnose, prescribe, interrogate, pressure, or present an opinion as professional advice.

02

Respect consent and boundaries.

Either person may avoid a subject, decline video, sit in silence, or end the conversation at any time. A boundary does not require an explanation.

03

Keep what is shared private.

Presence does not record calls. Do not record, photograph, transcribe, publish, or retell another person’s conversation. Ask only for personal details that are genuinely needed for the moment.

04

Keep Presence human—not transactional.

Do not sell, recruit, fundraise, request money, promote services, pursue romance or sex, or pressure anyone to share contact details or move the conversation elsewhere.

05

Do not use someone’s openness against them.

Threats, harassment, hate, discrimination, sexual conduct, manipulation, scams, impersonation, exploitation, and deliberately distressing behaviour have no place here.

06

Be an everyday person, honestly.

Do not claim credentials, authority, experience, or an identity you do not have. Listeners are not expected to have answers; callers are not expected to perform or justify what they feel.

If you are calling

Treat the Listener as a person offering their attention, not as a professional or an on-demand solution. Share only what feels safe, respect their boundaries, and let the call end when either person needs it to.

If you are listening

Listen more than you speak. Do not investigate, diagnose, promise secrecy you cannot guarantee, or make yourself responsible for the caller’s choices. You may pause availability or end a call whenever you no longer have space to be present.

Quiet accountability

Clear edges protect honest conversation.

You may end a call immediately, block someone from reaching you again, or raise a safety concern about threatening, harassing, exploitative, or seriously inappropriate conduct.

Presence may privately review concerns and warn, pause, suspend, or remove an account. We aim to consider context, explain account restrictions, and provide a way to ask for another review. A private block does not report the other person. A report is read by a person and does not automatically restrict an account. An ordinary mismatch or disappointing conversation belongs in the private feedback check-in—not the safety-reporting flow. We do not treat an unconfirmed report as a false report; deliberate misuse of reporting may be reviewed separately.

When Presence is not enough

Immediate danger needs immediate, qualified help.

If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, contact your local emergency service. If you need urgent mental-health support, contact a qualified crisis service in your country. A Listener may encourage you to seek appropriate help and may end the call; they are not expected to assess or manage a crisis.

The in-call Support & safety menu can suggest qualified resources. Its country suggestion is approximate and must be confirmed; the country used in that window is not saved to a Presence profile.
